Basic search

All pages that contain your search text are listed in a search result page. A search
for lion results in a list of pages that contain lion, lions, million

Searching for two or more words
If you type more than one word, they should be separated by blanks.

A search for lion cheetah results in pages that contain lion, lions,
million etc and/or cheetah, cheetahs etc.
To search for pages that include both words (not just either of them), type +
in front of them.

results in pages that contain both lion, lions, million etc and

Exact phrases
To search for an exact phrase, it should be enclosed between double quotes.
"male lion"
results in pages that contain male lion, male lions, female lion
etc.
Wildcards, i.e. any characters
The wildcard symbol * represents zero or more occurrences of any characters.
*beest
results in pages that contain wildebeest, hartebeest etc.
m*sai
results in pages that contain Masai, Maasai etc.
Do not include
To search for pages that do not include certain text, type - in front
of this text.
guide -"driver guide"
results in pages that contain guide, guides, guidebook
etc, but not driver guide, driver guides etc.
Advanced search
Click "Advanced search" below the white input field to show an input form
with additional options.
Match case
If this option is checked, your use of uppercase and lowercase letters in the search
text has to be exactly the same in the pages searched for.
Lion
results in pages that contain Lion, Lions etc, but not in pages that contain
lion, lions etc.
Find only whole words
If this option is checked, only whole words are searched for.
lion
results in pages that contain lion or Lion, but not in pages that contain
lions, Lions, million etc.
Title
If you check this option, you will search in the page titles, i.e. in the text that
is displayed on top of the page window.
For example, the title on top of the window you are reading in right now is:

Description and keywords
If this option is checked, you will search in the page descriptions and keywords.
The descriptions and keywords are hidden in the HTML code of the pages (and are not
visible in the web browser), and are there to guide search engines.
When searching www.safaripatrol.com, you normally don't need to check this option.
Full text
If this option is checked, you will search in the text that you can read in the web
browser. (HTML code is excluded from the search.)
Check this option for normal searching.
Alternative texts of the images
If this option is checked, you will search in the texts that are shown next to the pointer
when you point at images.
Search text of non-HTML files
If this option is checked, you will search not only in web (HTML) pages, but also in
all other text files.
There are some such files in www.safaripatrol.com, mainly downloadable species lists.
Show maximal X hits per result page
Change this option if you want to change the number of found pages/links listed in each
search result page.
Sorted by Y
Change this option if you want the found pages/links to be sorted in a different way
in the search result pages.
